The tradition of depicting animals existed in many parts of the ancient world.
In Medieval Ages bestiaries – books full of images of beasts- real and imaginary were popular religious manuscripts. The animals had symbolic meanings associated with moral and religious values.
My interest is in the imaginary figures which combine different features and symbolize freedom to be different and special.
